Linux Attributes:Undesirable Access Security Snack

Why did I choose the handle "lsattr_nix"?

The "lsattr" command displays the attributes of Linux files EXT2.

Linux files that have the flag set for "Immutable" can not be modified or deleted, even by "root" unless the flag is removed.

The immutable attribute can be identified using "lsattr".

If "i" is the out put for the attribute listing of a file it is unchangeable or immutable. See the picture above for an example.

Enjoy!

Internet Network Traffic Packet Archive

Some packets, I just wont see every day. The Internet Traffic Archive has 4 million-packet traces of LAN and WAN traffic, 30 days of wide-area TCP connections, Six months of Web client traces and more.

The traces are a very helpful review of network traffic that I do not normally see on a daily basis.

It has been interesting identifying and reading packets that are slightly irregular.

The Internet network traffic by ACM SIGCOMM is at http://ita.ee.lbl.gov/html/traces.html

Enjoy!

IPv6 Regex - Match legal IPv6 Strings

Ipv6 has various formats,  full form, multiple zeros, removed leading zeros, IPv4 dotted quad at the end, localhost ect. How will I determine if a string is a legal IPv6 address?

Stephen Ryan at Dartware has a Regex for the legal format for Ipv6. Have fun!

Linksys Router Security Checklist

I remember thinking a few years back, what is the basic Linksys Security Checklist for Ethernet DSL and Wireless routers?

The first place I checked was Linksys Learning Center.  Very cool easy to understand security videos. Then I decided, I wanted to know a bit more information about the Linksys  basic security.  So I checked out a few forums: Afterdawn  for basic wireless and for basic DSL linuxquestions.org

Enjoy!
